Women's Tennis Collects Win At Lawrence Tech

The Warriors collected wins in every doubles match.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (2-1 overall) got back to its winning ways, defeating Lawrence Tech (5-5 overall) by a final score of 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. 

SINGLES
Marta Komar (Inowroclaw, Poland) kicked things off with a win at No. 2 singles.  She made quick work of her opponent, winning by a final of 6-0, 6-1. 

Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) was next to finish.  She won her No. 5 singles match, 6-2, 6-2. 

At No. 3 singles, Laura Cazacu (London, England) was strong, collecting a 6-4, 6-4 victory. 

Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France) won her match in the No. 1 singles spot.  She won, 7-5, 6-0. 

At. No. 4 singles, Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) won in three sets (7-5, 3-6, 10-5). 

The Warriors were forced to default at No. 6 singles. 

DOUBLES
Jewell and Teodora Radu (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) were strong at the No. 3 doubles spot, dispatching of LTU's opposing pair, 6-1. 

Linda Liong and Cazacu also won with relative ease, collecting a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. 

At the No. 1 doubles spot, Ruyssen and Komar were strong, posting a 6-1 win. 

UP NEXT
The Warriors will stay on the road for a match against Tiffin, which is set for Feb. 11.  The match will begin at 11:30 AM.
