Volleyball Falls In Three Sets At Tiffin

Outside hitter Taylor Slauterbeck recorded a team-high 10 kills during Friday's match.

Box Score

The Malone University volleyball team suffered a three-set defeat in its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Tiffin University on Friday evening, falling by scores of 11-25, 15-25 and 19-25.

With the victory, the Dragons (13-13, 4-13 GLIAC) avenged a Sept. 21 loss to the Pioneers (12-17 overall, 7-10 GLIAC) and eliminated Malone from GLIAC Tournament contention.  The Top 8 teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the conference's postseason tournament.  Following Friday's match, Malone remained in ninth place and, with just one regular-season contest remaining, will be unable to catch the squad in eighth, Saginaw Valley State (MI) University.

The Pioneers managed just 27 kills and a .081 attack percentage during Friday's contest.  Tiffin countered with 53 kills and a .375 hitting percentage.

Outside hitter Taylor Slauterbeck paced the Malone attack with 10 kills.  Middle hitter Lauren Townley followed with eight kills and two blocks (one solo).  Outside hitter Anna Hays added five kills and two service aces.  Libero Katie Hasebein scooped up 12 digs while setter Kimberly McCracken registered 20 assists and 11 digs.

The Pioneers will conclude their 2013 campaign on Saturday afternoon with a 2:00 p.m. contest at Ohio Dominican University.  ODU will provide live video and statistics during the match at http://livestats.prestosports.com/ohiodominican/
