Women's Tennis Wins Home Match Against Findlay

The Warriors won seven of the nine matches.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (4-2 overall) continued its strong play on the court, defeating Findlay (3-5 overall) 6-1 Friday afternoon at Eastside Tennis & Fitness Club.

SINGLES
Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France) started things off with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. 

She was followed by Marta Komar (Inowroclaw, Poland), who put together a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles. 

The third player to finish was Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline), who was able to win her match, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 5 singles. 

Laura Cazacu (London, England) collected a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles. 

The last singles win for the Warriors came from Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage).  She posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.

At No. 4 singles, Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) fell, 2-6, 4-6. 

DOUBLES
The pair of Cazacu and Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) has provided strong results early in the season, as they collected another win at No. 2 doubles.  They had a 6-2 victory. 

At No. 1 doubles, Ruyssen and Komar were strong, defeating their opponent 6-4. 

Playing at No. 3 doubles, Mandair and Laynes were upended, 4-6. 

UP NEXT
The Warriors will be in action again on Feb. 19 against Milwaukee.  That match is set for 5 PM in Kalamazoo, Mich.
