Huskies outmatched at Tiffin 7-0

TIFFIN, OhioEli Pinnoo forced a third set at No. 3 singles, but the Huskies failed to grab a point in a 7-0 loss to Tiffin University in men's tennis Wednesday afternoon at Lakewood Raquet Club. The Dragons took the doubles point in a sweep. The closest match was at No. 1 where Nico Caviglia and Ambarish Rao lost 7-5. Siddhesh Mahadeshwar and Pinnoo fell 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, as did Nacho Carbajosa and Ricardo Nunez at No. 3.

Nikolai Prosjankyov took one game in both sets against Tiffin's Michael Gurtner in singles. Nunez followed with a 6-0, 6-4 loss at No. 2. Pinnoo rebounded to take the second set 6-2 but ultimately fell to Joe Gilman 6-2, 2-6, 6-0. Cavilglia lost 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4. Carbajosa went down 6-2, 6-0 and Rao lost his singles match 6-4, 6-2.

"Tiffin has a strong men's tennis team and they showed it today," said head coach Kristin Yep. "At the end of the day, we were outmatched, but we are learning how to be better competitors with each match that goes by."

Michigan Tech (0-3) travels to play Findlay on Friday, March 12 at YMCA East.
