Dragons hold on for 11-9 win at Lake Erie

Tiffin University (10-3, 4-0 GLIAC) built a solid lead but then fought off a late game challenge, holding on to beat Lake Erie 11-9.

Tiffin looked to run away with it early, tallying three goals in the first five minutes with Tiffany Anderson putting two of them in the net.

After the Storm got two goals back, the Dragons went on a run, scoring 5 unanswered goals over the next 10 minutes to lead 8-2.

After the intermission, which TU led 8-3, they looked to repeat their first half performance. Ahead 9-4, the Dragons faced a run by Lake Erie, as it scored four goals over the next 15 minutes to pull to within 9-8.

TU, which went jusst 1 for 6 on free position shots, slowed the game down and waited patiently for their chances. Elle Hamilton and Gina Abulone picked the right moments, putting two goals on the board to put TU up 11-8 with just 2:41 to play and put the game away.

Overall TU outshot the Storm 27-16 and held a 13-9 edge in draw controls. They also forced 11 Lake Erie turnovers.
