2019 Northwood Preview


The Northwood University men’s soccer team heads to the 2019 season looking to build on their appearance in the GLIAC Tournament Championship match. Northwood went 9-9-1 overall in 2018 and bring back a large group of returning players for the upcoming campaign.

 Northwood does lose top scorer from a year ago Teddy Stacy, but was the only senior on the team from a year ago. In the back, the Timberwolves bring back Sam Richards, Jared Suddon, Will Alderton, Jacob Mattia and Josh Wates. All five of those players appeared in at least 13 games a year ago. Keeper Corbin Cecchini has been a two-year starter in net for the Timberwolves and has gone 20-10-4 with 11 shutouts.

 The Timberwolves’ midfield brings back a veteran group of players. Andrew Behring has can play both at the forward and in the midfield and scored three goals for Northwood a year ago. Luke Neves had five assists while playing in all 19 games.Jack Doyle scored three goals last season, while Chase Clark also saw significant time for Northwood as well.

 Up front, Nino Evola, Austin Hobbs, Ben Campbell and Cameron Veazey all scored multiple goals for the Timberwolves in 2018. That group along with a talented group of newcomers will provide offense for Northwood this season.
