2023 Parkside Men's Soccer Season Preview

Following one of the most successful seasons in program history, the Parkside men's soccer team is rolling into 2023 on their highest note yet.

For the 13th time, Jason Zitzke will enter the season as the head coach of the Rangers. Formerly an alumni of Parkside (Class of 1998), more recently the assistant coach from 1999-2002, the Parkside Hall of Famer has Rangers green embedded in his blood.

Zitzke brings with him a talented squad heading into the 2023 season, as 17 players from the historic 2022 roster return for the 2023 campaign. Among of the returners is Forward Edgar Heredia Victoria who was second in points scored on the 2022 squad with 11 points coming from 4 goals and 3 assists. On the defensive side for the Rangers Lars Popp returns. The defender brought offensive flare scoring 3 goals out of his defensive position.

After an appearance in the Sweet 16 just a season ago, the Rangers will open up play on the road against Quincy University in Illinois. This is the first of four non-conference matches that will begin on August 31st.

On September 17th, conference play starts for the Rangers on the road against Purdue Northwest. A shot at revenge as the only GLIAC loss for the Rangers last season came against them. Five days later, the men return home to host St. Cloud State University for the home conference opener.

After the first five out of seven GLIAC contests being on the road, the Rangers host the final four games of the regular season on their home turf (Wood Road Soccer Field). The season concludes on October 22nd against Saginaw Valley State University.
