Davenport's Wolfram & Petravicius Sweep GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week 11 of the 2018 campaign. Davenport senior outfielder Austin Petravicius earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Davenport junior Grant Wolfram captured Pitcher of the Week accolades. This is the second weekly honor for each individual this season.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Austin Petravicius, Davenport

Davenport senior outfielder Austin Petravicius had a major impact in the Panthers winning all four games against visiting Ashland. DU moved into second place in the GLIAC with the sweep and are one game behind first place Northwood entering the final week. Petravicius started the series with eight straight hits including four singles, double, triple and two home runs. He drove in five runs and scored eight times against the Eagles going 9-for-15 with two stolen bases.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Grant Wolfram, Davenport

Davenport junior Grant Wolfram tossed his first career no-hitter on Friday in game one against Ashland. It was the first no-hitter at DU with six years and Wolfram also struck out a DU record 13 batters in seven innings. Wolfram allowed just two base runners with a first-inning walk and he hit a batter in the third inning. He retired the final 13 batters he faced and fanned the side in the seventh to set the record and struck out eight in the final four innings. Wolfram needed just 95 pitches to reach the milestone and hit the strike zone with 65 pitches. Wolfram is 4-0 in his last four starts with a 1.67 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 27 innings.
