Davenport's Wilson, Zeimis Sweep GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week three of the 2018 campaign. Davenport senior outfielder Zac Wilson earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while his teammate Davenport redshirt sophomore Pete Zeimis captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Zac Wilson, Davenport

Davenport senior outfielder Zac Wilson batted .457 and slugged .771 during this week's spring trip for the Panthers. He had his biggest game with two homers and five RBI with both homers coming in his final two at-bats against No. 7 Minnesota State-Mankato. His ninth-inning homer was the game-winning hit in a 10-8 win over the Mavericks. He also hit a three-run homer in the seventh to give DU an 8-7 lead. Wilson drove in 11 runs and scored 10 times with seven stolen bases to lead the team. He now has 37 steals in his career moving into third place all-time at Davenport. He also moved into second place all-time with 119 runs scored. 


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Pete Zeimis, Davenport

Davenport redshirt sophomore Pete Zeimis was extremely reliable out of the bullpen in three appearances this week. He threw 8.2 innings and allowed just five hits and one run with two strikeouts. He posted a 1.04 ERA and earned his first save of the season against West Virginia Wesleyan in a 9-7 win throwing a 1-2-3 inning in the ninth. He also threw 5.2 innings and allowed one run against No. 7 Minnesota State-Mankato in a 10-inning loss.
