SVSU's Wilson and Ashland's Peters garner baseball player and pitcher of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following Week 3 of the 2019 season. Saginaw Valley State senior outfielder Craig Wilson earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Ashland senior Devin Peters captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Craig Wilson - Saginaw Valley State

Senior outfielder Craig Wilson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) had a great weekend at the plate for the Cardinals in a three-game set on the road versus Missouri S&T. Wilson hit .727 (8-of-11), adding two RBI, three runs scored and a trio of stolen bases. He was 4-for-4, 2-for-3 and 2-for-4 as the Cardinals finished 1-2 for the series. He recorded two putouts.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Devin Peters - Ashland

Senior right-hander Devin Peters (Churubusco, Ind.) went 1-0 with a 2.03 ERA in two starts last week, compiling 18 strikeouts and just three walks in 13 1/3 innings. He was dominant in a 6-0 win at Trevecca Nazarene last Monday, tossing seven scoreless innings while matching a career-high 11 strikeouts. He walked just one and allowed only three singles, needing just 88 pitches. Saturday, Peters tossed 6 1/3 solid innings against a Seton Hill team that has averaged over 40 wins the last eight years. He struck out seven and allowed just three runs on six hits, but did not factor in the decision.
