Eagles move up to sixth in NCBWA DII Poll

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ashland University baseball team jumped to No. 6 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll released on Tuesday (April 9) afternoon.

The Eagles (27-4, 10-1 GLIAC) ran their program-record winning streak to 17 before having it stopped in the series finale at Saginaw Valley on Sunday. They followed it up with a come-from-behind 12-7 win at Walsh on Tuesday. The Eagles were ranked No. 15 in last week's poll. This is third straight time AU has been in the Top 25.

Ashland has the best winning percentage (.871) in Division II and leads the GLIAC by 1.5 games. The Eagles have displayed balance across the team, ranking 15th in the nation in ERA (3.54) and 22nd in runs per game (8.2). Eleven players have at least 10 RBI and six players with at least two plate appearances per game are hitting at least .320.

The Eagles resume GLIAC play with a four-game series at Wayne State starting Friday (April 12).
