Northwood's Bain and PNW's McCune earn baseball player of the week awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following Week 10 of the 2019 season. Purdue Northwest sophomore Kevin McCune earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Northwood senior Max Bain captured Pitcher of the Week accolades for the second time this season.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kevin McCune - Purdue Northwest

Sophomore third baseman Kevin McCune (Munster, Ind.) posted an incredible .900 batting average (9-of-10) as Purdue Northwest was 3-1 against Saginaw Valley State over the weekend. He hit four doubles and scored six runs, while also having an on base percentage of .923 and slugging percentage of 1.300. He also recorded one stolen base.
 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Max Bain - Northwood

Max Bain (Clarkston, Mich.) continued his hot stretch on the mound for Northwood, tossing another shutout in Northwood's 3-0 win over Davenport Friday. The senior allowed five hits in seven innings while striking out six. Bain, who is now 7-0 on the season, ranks second in the GLIAC in wins. Over his last four starts, Bain is 4-0 with a 1.00 ERA.
