GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its second weekly baseball awards of the 2021 Baseball season. Davenport junior catcher Carson Eby earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Purdue Northwest senior pitcher Chad Patrick was awarded Pitcher of the Week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Carson Eby - Davenport
Carson Eby had a fantastic weekend at Trevecca Nazarene as the Panthers took two of three from the previously unbeaten Trojans. Eby batted .583 and slugged 1.250 for three games. He tied a career high with four RBI in game 2 on Friday and then broke it with five RBI in Saturday's extra-inning win. He registered a career-high five hits in six at-bats with two doubles and a homer on Saturday. He also homered in game 2 on Friday in the 12-0 win
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Chad Patrick - Purdue Northwest
Purdue Northwest’s Chad Patrick, a senior from Hebron, Ind., was one out away from a no-hitter and recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts to lead PNW in a victory over Concordia-St. Paul. The strikeout total is tied for the second-most in a Division II game this season and also the second-most in team history during the D2 era. It was Patrick’s second one-hit, shutout in as many starts this season. His only walk allowed on Saturday came in the seventh inning. Patrick has now racked up 24 strikeouts in 14.0 innings pitched this season.
