NU's Magno and WSU's Fitzpatrick Claim Weekly Baseball Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its first weekly baseball awards of the 2022 baseball season. Northwood sophomore Matt Magno received GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State junior Karter Fitzpatrick captured pitcher of the week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Matt Magno, Northwood

Matt Magno (Dublin, Ohio) batted .500 over seven games to open the season, finishing with a home run and five RBIs. He had an on-base percentage of .565 and a slugging percentage of .800. He had a big weekend in NU's 3-1 weekend against Hillsdale, going 8-15 (.533) with a home run and five RBIs while slugging .867. NU is 5-3 to open the season.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Karter Fitzpatrick, Wayne State

Junior starter Karter Fitzpatrick (Monroe, Mich.) was solid in his season debut vs. Tiffin. The right-hander earned the win after striking out a career-best nine batters over seven innings. He did not allow a run on four hits and a walk as WSU won three of four to start the season.
