GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its 12th weekly baseball awards of the 2022 baseball season. Northwood senior Khale Showers was named GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week while Wayne State junior Karter Fitzpatrick was selected as pitcher of the week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Khale Showers, Northwood
Khale Showers (Belmont, Mich.) continued his hot play of late, batting .563 with two home runs and seven RBIs in NU's weekend series against SVSU. He finished the series with six runs and two doubles while finishing with a .611 on-base percentage as well as a 1.063 slugging percentage. In Saturday's doubleheader, Showers went 6-9 with a double, a home run and six RBIs.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Karter Fitzpatrick, Wayne State
Karter Fitzpatrick (Monroe, Mich.) earns GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after dominating in his start at Parkside last week. He won his seventh game by allowing one hit and striking out 10 over eight scoreless innings.
