SVSU's Money and DU's Edington receive weekly GLIAC baseball honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its second weekly baseball awards of the 2022 baseball season. Saginaw Valley State junior Martin Money was honored as GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week, while Davenport senior Derrick Edington received pitcher of the week recognition.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Martin Money, Saginaw Valley State

SVSU was led by Martin Money (Midland, Mich.) in a four-game series at the University of Illinois-Springfield. The junior went 7-of-12 at the plate for a .583 batting average. He drove in eight runs and recorded a stolen base while walking three times. 


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Derrick Edington, Davenport

Senior Derrick Edington (Pickford, Mich.) fanned a career-high 11 Gannon batters in a no-decision on Sunday in Auburndale, Fla. He scattered two hits over six innings in the no-decision outing as the Panthers won 5-4 in 11 innings. Edington has posted 20 strikeouts (leads the team) in 12.2 innings this season and has a 3.55 ERA.
