PNW's Hilbrich and SVSU's Raymond receive GLIAC baseball weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its 11th weekly baseball awards of the 2023 baseball season. Purdue Northwest graduate student outfielder Ray Hilbrich was named GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State sophomore southpaw Reed Raymond was selected as pitcher of the week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ray Hilbrich, Purdue Northwest

Ray Hilbrich led the Pride at plate this weekend going 7-for-11 with one homerun, five RBIs, five walks, ten total bases, and one sacrifice fly. He ended the weekend with an impressive .636 batting average, .722 on base percentage, and .909 slugging percentage. He also notched a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage to help guide the Pride defensively.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Reed Raymond, Saginaw Valley State

Reed Raymond, a sophomore two-way player for Saginaw Valley State University, had a big week with both scoring the winning run in extra innings on Friday and having two appearances on the mound ending in saves. Raymond pitched two innings allowing two hits and a walk while striking out three. The first game was in the third annual Dow Diamond Classic between the Cardinals and the Northwood Timberwolves and the second was to sweep a doubleheader against GLIAC opponent Purdue Northwest.
