SVSU's Jatczak and GVSU's Morawski receive weekly GLIAC baseball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its seventh weekly baseball awards of the 2024 baseball season. Saginaw Valley State senior infielder/pitcher Hayden Jatczak was selected GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week, while Grand Valley State sophomore southpaw Mike Morawski was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hayden Jatczak, Saginaw Valley State

Saginaw Valley State University senior Hayden Jatczak had a dominant week at the plate over the eight games for the Cardinals. The Bay City native went 14-for-31 and batted .500 in conference play with seven GLIAC games and one against Central Michigan. Out of his 14 hits, Jatczak led the team in doubles with four and home runs with three. He also had a team-high 16 RBI and was second in runs scored with 15. The two-way player also walked six times and did not strike out once over 37 plate appearances. Jatczak sits first in the GLIAC in batting average and slugging percentage and is now tied for first in home runs.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Mike Morawski, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State sophomore LHP Mike Morawski went 7.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits with five strikeouts and just one walk en route earning the win versus #15 Wayne State in a GLIAC contest. Morawski, who logged a season-high innings pitched, allowed two hits to the first three batters then allowed just four hits over the next 7.0 innings.
