WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Ashland University senior quarterback Taylor Housewright (Ashland, Ohio) was named the 2012 Daktronics Super Region Four "Offensive Player of the Year" in balloting conducted by the region's sports information directors.
Housewright led AU to an 11-1 record in 2012. AU won the first GLIAC football championship in school history. The Eagles advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs. The senior was the GLIAC player of the year and was a first team all-conference selection. He's one of eight finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy. Housewright completed 241-of-358 passes (67.3 percent) for 3,071 yards this season. He had 32 touchdown passes and four interceptions.
Joining Housewright on the Daktronics All-Super Region Four First Team are: senior OL Tim Lelito of Grand Valley State Univesrity; junior OL Matt Armstrong of Grand Valley State; junior WR Jeff Janis of Saginaw Valley State University; senior RB Joe Glendening of Hillsdale College; junior returner Christian Jessie of Northern Michigan University; senior DL Jordan Morgan of Ferris State University; and junior Safety Brian Gamble of Ashland Univeristy.
