Grand Valley State's Heath Parling Named GLIAC Football "Offensive Player of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University junior quarterback Heath Parling (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" for leading the Lakers to an 83-46 record-setting victory over Notre Dame College last Saturday.  Hillsdale College sophomore defensive back Daniel Pittman (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic) earned "Defensive Player of the Week Honors," while Northwood University junior full back/kick returner Cameron Jackson (Dahlonega, Ga./Lumpki) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."
















GLIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week:
Heath Parling  - Grand Valley State (JR, QB, 6-3, 215, Plymouth, Mich./Salem)

Grand Valley State junior quarterback Heath Parling completed 21-of-31 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns in the Lakers' 83-46 win over Notre Dame College. Parling added 17 yards rushing on two carries. Heath led the Laker offense to 12 touchdowns, tying a GLIAC record, in 13 total drives. Parling converted 8-of-11 third down attempts and 2-of-3 fourth down attempts. Parling also guided the Laker offense to a  8-for-8 outing in red-zone touchdowns.

GLIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week:
Daniel Pittman - Hillsdale (SO, DB, 6-0, 184, Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic)

In his first career home start, Hillsdale College sophomore defensive back Daniel Pittman had a big game, intercepting two passes to go with six total tackles (four solo) in the Chargers' 38-20 win over Ohio Dominican University on Saturday. His first interception came on the very first play from scrimmage, on a pass that landed at Hillsdale's 14-yard-line. The Chargers then marched down the field for their first score of the game after Pittman's interception.

GLIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week:
Cameron Jackson - Northwood (JR, RB/KR, 5-10, 220, Dahlonega, Ga./Lumpkin)

Northwood University junior fullback, Cameron Jackson, registered his second career kickoff return for a touchdown in Northwood's 28-16 win over Walsh University on Saturday.  Jackson returned the first Walsh kickoff of the game 88-yards for a touchdown.  For the game, Jackson returned three kicks for 129 yards (43 yards per return).  He also added 78 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground.
