BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University senior quarterback Jonathon Jennings (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" after throwing for 343 yards and a school record-tying five touchdowns while leading the Cardinals to a 35-34 victory at the University of Findlay on Saturday. Ferris State University sophomore defensive end Justin Zimmer (Greenville, Mich.) earned "Defensive Player of the Week Honors," while Michigan Technological University junior kicker Garrett Mead (Alpena, Mich.) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."

Saginaw Valley State University senior QB Jonathon Jennings completed 18 of 25 passes for 343 yards and five touchdowns in leading the Cardinals to a 35-34 road win at the University of Findlay on Saturday. He also added 54 yards on the ground on 12 carries for 397 yards of total offense on the day. The five TD's in a single game ties an SVSU record now shared by Jennings and three others. It was the first time an SVSU quarterback has thrown for five scores since the 2006 season, when Chris Dougherty netted five against Grand Valley State.

Ferris State University sophomore
defensive end Justin Zimmer had perhaps his best contest in a
Bulldog uniform as Ferris State posted a decisive 34-7 league road
win over defending conference champion Ashland on Saturday (Sept.
21) night in FSU’s first-ever trip to Jack Miller Stadium.
Zimmer scored his first career touchdown on a 20-yard interception
return late in the first half to push the Bulldogs’ advantage
to 27-0 at halftime. He also tallied 4.5 sacks and 3.5
tackles for loss to go with a team-high 10 total stops.
Additionally, he broke up a pass and forced a fumble.

Garrett Mead - Michigan Tech
(JR, K, 5-10, 200, Alpena, Mich.)
Junior kicker Garrett Mead kicked
five field goals and scored 17 of Michigan Tech’s 29 points
in a 29-7 win over Walsh Saturday (Sept. 21) in Houghton (Mich.).
The junior from Alpena, Mich., booted field goals of 31 and 19
yards in the first half and added 24, 37 and 27 yarders in the
second. With his performance, Mead set school records for field
goals in a game (the old record was three) and kick scoring points
in a game (the old record was 13). The Huskies attempted just three
field goals all last season.
