BAY CITY, Mich. - Ohio Dominican University junior quarterback Mark Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" after helping the Panthers post a school record 727 yards of total offense in a 62-21 win over Lake Erie College on Saturday. Grand Valley State University senior defensive back Reggie Williams (Lansing, Mich./Everett) earned "Defensive Player of the Week Honors," while Wayne State University senior kick returner Val Showers (Detroit, Mich./Crockett) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."

Mark Miller, in just three quarters of action, completed 19-of-26
passes for career-high 370 yards and 4 touchdowns in the
Panthers’ 62-21 win over Lake Erie on Saturday. Miller
connected on touchdown passes of 21, 47, 42 and 62 yards in the
contest. He completed 73 percent of passes and helped the ODU
offense rack up school-record 727 yards of total offense. The
Panthers scored on their first eight possessions of game and punted
just twice. Miller currently ranks second in the GLIAC in TD passes
(20) and fourth in passing yards per game (249.2).

Grand Valley State senior defensive back Reggie Williams picked off two passes and recorded three tackles as the Lakers claimed a 34-20 victory at Wayne State. Williams made a highlight reel interception to close the first half and ended the game with his second pick of the day. Williams was a key performer as the Laker starting defensive unit allowed just 220 yards of total offense and one offensive touchdown. Williams’ 11 career interceptions rank as the fifth-best career total in Laker annals.

Wayne State University senior wide receiver/kick returner Val Showers had four kickoff returns for 171 yards (42.8 average) including an 85-yard touchdown for WSU’s first points of the game Saturday against Grand Valley State University. He finished six kickoff return yards shy of the WSU single-game record of 177 set 28 years to the day by Tom Badalamenti against Ferris State (11/9/85). Showers had returns of 34, 85 (TD), 23, and 29 yards in the contest.
