WACO, TEX.– Two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) programs remain highly ranked inside the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll heading into the final week of the 2017 regular season.
Week 11 featured a pivotal GLIAC matchup in which now No. 10 Ashland defeated then No. 19 Grand Valley State by a 34-31 final score as AU kicker Aidan Simenc nailed the game-winning 29-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Eagles to 8-0 in conference play and at least a share of the 2017 GLIAC Football title. Ferris State is now ranked No. 11 following a 26-0 shutout at Davenport.
A victory for Ashland over Saginaw Valley next Saturday will give the Eagles the outright league championship.
