Ashland & Ferris State Earn 2017 NCAA Football Championship Berths

GLIAC -- The field for the 2017 NCAA Division II Football Championships have been announced and two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) football programs have earned postseason bids in Super Region Three.

The 2017 GLIAC Football Champion Ashland Eagles enter the postseason as the No. 3 seed in Super Region Three and will welcome No. 6 Northwest Missouri State, the two-time defending national champions, to Ohio next Saturday in First Round action. The Ferris State Bulldogs will also host a playoff contest as the No. 4 seed matching up with No. 5 Ouachita Baptist next Saturday, Nov. 18th. The other pairing in Super Region Three will pit No. 2 Indianapolis against No. 7 Harding.

Fort Hays State earned the No. 1 spot in the region and will receive the coveted first-round bye and face the winner of the Ferris State versus Ouachita Baptist matchup.

The top seven programs in the region at the end of the regular season qualified for postseason play with the No. 1 seed will receiving a first-round bye. Super Region Three consists of schools from the GLIAC, the Great American Conference (GAC), the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).
