GLIAC -- The No. 10 Ferris State Bulldogs fell just short in the 2017 NCAA Division II Football Super Region Three Championship game on Saturday (Dec. 2). The national quarterfinal contest saw Harding take down the Bulldogs by a 16-14 decision inside Top Taggart Field on the campus of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.

Harding started the contest with a 10-minute drive which resulted in a field goal for the early 3-0 lead. Ferris State responded with a Devontae Harrington 4-yard touchdown rush setup by a long Jahaan Brown rush to put the Bulldogs ahead 7-3 at the end of the first. The Bison answered back with two more scores in the second quarter to give HU a 13-7 halftime lead. Harrington found paydirt for the second time in the contest with a 10-yard touchdown rush to give Ferris a 14-13 edge, but Harding used the final five minutes on the clock to move 62 yards down the field for the game-winning 20-yard field goal as time expired to earn the 16-14 victory. Harding, the nation's top rushing attack, held the ball for 41 minutes and did not complete a pass.
