Ferris State Survives, Grand Valley State Falls in NCAA Region Quarterfinal Contests

GLIAC -- The 2018 NCAA Division II Football Playoffs are finally here and the Ferris State Bulldogs are moving on after they picked up a 21-19 victory over Harding on Saturday to advance to the Super Region Three Semifinals next week when they play host to the sixth-seed Northwest Missouri State who upset third-seeded Grand Valley State, 42-17.

The second-seeded Ferris State University Bulldogs took an early 21-0 lead early in the second quarter before fending off a 19-point fourth-quarter performance from Harding as the Bisons gave FSU all they could handle late. Ferris State earned the victory despite only gaining 154 yards of total offense as the famous Harding rushing attack accumulated 233 rushing yards in the contest.

Grand Valley State never lead as the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats rushed for 356 yards on the road in Allendale to advance to next Saturday's contest at Ferris State. Northwest held GVSU to 239 yards of offense, while gaining 448 yards in the win. The Lakers scored on a Jack Provencher 2-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to cut it to 21-17 before the Bearcats scored the final 21 points of the contest to runaway late.
