#GLIACFB Records 6-3 Mark in Week 2 Action


GLIAC -- Week 2 of the 2018 GLIAC Football season is ready to roll. Game notes, audio, video and live stats links for nine GLIAC football contests on Saturday, Sept. 8 can be found below.

Davenport earned a 7-3 victory over Wisconsin-Oshkosh, the No. 2 ranked team in D3, to move to 2-0 on the year as the Panthers held their opponent to 127 yards of total offense. Saginaw Valley ran out to a quick 17-0 lead in the first ten minutes to dominate Walsh on the road with the eventual final score being 41-10 as the Cardinals improve to 2-0.

Michigan Tech came back from 24-16 down in the fourth to defeat Hillsdale in overtime, 31-30, after a missed PAT gave the Huskies the win. Tech running back James Henderson rushed for 120 yards and a score, while wideout Jacob Wenzlick caught nine balls for 117 yards. Northern Michigan picked up a 27-22 victory over UT-Permian Basin as running back Jake Mayon produced 224 rushing yards on 35 carries including a late, fourth quarter touchdown in the win.

No. 9 Ferris State handled No. 19 Findlay 59-13 as the Bulldogs pulled out to a 24-0 halftime lead which eventually extended to 31-0 before the Oilers could get on the scoreboard. FSU quarterback Jayru Campbell scored five touchdowns and amassed over 300 yards of total offense in the lopsided victory. No. 8 Grand Valley State posted an impressive 21-10 win in Mississippi over Delta State. In a defensive battle, GVSU wideout Austin Paritee caught a 31-yard Bart Williams pass to put the game away early in the fourth.

Northwood fell behind early and could never catch up as the Timberwolves fell 27-16 at home to Missouri S&T. Wayne State went on the road and was overwhelmed by No. 22 Indianapolis in a 28-6 decision, while No. 18 Ashland took a 17-3 first quarter lead on the road at No. 17 Ohio Dominican before ODU scored the final 21 points of the contest to earn the 24-17 victory.

The four late games feature six ranked teams, including a pair of Top 25 matchups. Wayne State hits the road to No. 22 Indianapolis in hopes of starting 2-0 at 6 p.m. before No. 8 Grand Valley State takes on Delta State in Mississippi at 7 o'clock. Former league foes will battle in the trenches when No. 9 Ferris State tangles with No. 19 Findlay, while No. 18 Ashland travels to Columbus to face No. 17 Ohio Dominican in a pair of highly-anticipated matchups.
