GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 3 of the 2022 football season. Saginaw Valley State senior quarterback Andrew Brito earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, Wayne State freshman cornerback Elijah Fowlkes was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week and Grand Valley State sophomore kicker Kollin Kralapp received GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Andrew Brito, Saginaw Valley State
The No. 23 Saginaw Valley State University football team continued to roll through the nonconference schedule with a 35-14 win in the Axe Bowl against Northwood University on Saturday in Midland. Senior quarterback Andrew Brito led the SVSU offense, earning the team’s first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekly honor of the season in the process. Brito finished 17-of-23 passing for 248 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He added 11 carries for 110 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown run.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Elijah Fowlkes, Wayne State
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kollin Kralapp, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State sophomore place kicker Kollin Kralapp has been named the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week it was announced by the league office. Kralapp converted all nine of his point after attempts and connected on a career-long 40-yard field goal in the Lakers’ 66-7 victory over Lincoln. Kralapp is 16-for-16 in PATs and 2-for-2 in field goals, establishing a new career-long with each make.
