KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With the final week of the regular
season for most conferences ahead, Metropolitan State retained the
top spot in the latest NABC/Division II rankings. However,
losses by three of the top eight teams shook up the remainder of
the rankings as teams begin jockeying for position in both their
own conferences and for the upcoming NCAA regionals.
Metro State, who has won 20 consecutive games, received 15 of
the16 first place votes this week. The other one was received
by Tarleton State, who takes over at the second spot while East
region members East Stroudsburg and West Liberty hold the next two
positions. Last week’s second-ranked team, dropped to
fifth after falling to William Jewell.
Southern Connecticut State vaulted to sixth this week while
California Baptist retains the seventh spot. South Carolina Aiken
moved up to eighth while Indianapolis, the other top-five team to
fall last week, dropped to ninth ahead of Colorado School of
Mines.
The second ten begins with Indiana (Pa.), followed by Florida
Southern, Lincoln Memorial, Cal State-San Bernardino and Minnesota
State. Lake Superior State, who leads the nation with 26
wins, is 16ththis week with Cal Poly Pomona, Lewis,
Central Missouri and Seattle Pacific rounding out the top
20.
Montevallo, Delta State, Findlay, Wisconsin-Parkside and Southern
Indiana are the last five teams in this week’s poll.
