KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Metropolitan State, who has held the
top spot in the NABC/Division II rankings since the beginning of
February, will carry that top ranking in the NCAA Division II
Tournament as the Roadrunners hold the top spot in the final
coaches poll for the 2013-14 season.
Metro State and No. 2 East Stroudsburg, the only teams in Division
II with just one loss, hold the top two spots in the rankings and
are among the eight regional hosts for the events that begin this
weekend. Tarleton State, who is seeded second behind Metro
State in the South Central bracket is third, while Southern
Connecticut State (East host) and South Carolina Aiken (Southeast
host) round out the top five.
Three conference tournament champions jumped into the top 10 this
week as well, headed by No. 6 Lincoln Memorial. West Liberty
is seventh, followed by Drury (Midwest host), Minnesota State
(Central host) and Florida Southern (South host). Seattle
Pacific came in at 11th, followed by Indianapolis,
Colorado School of Mines, Southern Indiana and Indiana (Pa.).
The eighth regional host, Cal State-San Bernardino, is
16th with California Baptist, Montevallo, Missouri
Southern and Central Missouri in back of the Coyotes.
The final five teams in the last poll are Findlay,
Wisconsin-Parkside, Midwestern State, Cal Poly Pomona and Lake
Superior State.
