GLIAC Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 1

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced weekly men's basketball awards following the first week of the regular season. Ferris State senior center Jared Stolicker captured GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors, while Ashland junior forward Wendell Davis collected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week accolades.

North Division
Jared Stolicker Ferris State Center Sr.

Highlights: Stolicker opened the 2015-16 campaign in a big way as he led the Bulldogs to a weekend sweep in regional action at the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge held in Allendale. The 6-10 Stolicker averaged 23.5 points per game and 10 rebounds a contest as FSU posted decisive wins of 80-55 over Missouri-St. Louis and 91-68 versus Quincy. Stolicker shot 74.2% from the floor on 23-of-31 field goals while totaling 47 points, 20 rebounds, four blocked shots and a steal in 50 minutes of work. He scored 23 points with 10 boards in the season-opening win over UMSL on Saturday before coming back with a game-high 24 points on 12-of-13 (92.3%) shooting along with 10 boards in Sunday's triumph over Quincy. His weekend included eight offensive rebounds in the two games as FSU opened the year with a perfect 2-0 mark.

South Division
Wendell Davis Ashland Forward Jr.

Highlights: Davis recorded a career-high 34 points in Ashland's 82-73 win against Missouri S&T before a 16 point, 11 rebounds, four assists and 12-for-13 from the line effort in a 75-67 win against No. 8 Indianapolis. For the week, Davis averaged 25.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, shot 68.2 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the line.
