SVSU's Turnage, Tiffin's Marsden GLIAC Hoops Weekly Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced weekly men's basketball awards following competition on the last week of January. Saginaw Valley junior forward C.J. Turnage captured GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors for the second straight week, while Tiffin senior forward Chrisean Marsden collected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week accolades.


GLIAC Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 11
North Division
C.J. Turnage Saginaw Valley Forward Sr.

Highlights: SVSU junior forward C.J. Turnage averaged 20.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg and three assists per game in leading the team to a 2-0 weekend, defeating both Grand Valley State and No. 25 Ferris State. He had 16 points, nine boards, four assists and three steals in the win over the Lakers before going for a game-high 24 points with seven rebounds, two assists and a block over the 25th-ranked Bulldogs. The Cardinals now hold a two-game edge in the GLIAC North Standings over Ferris State and Lake Superior State and a one-game advantage in the overall league standings over Findlay. 

South Division
Chrisean Marsden Tiffin Forward Sr.

Highlights: Tiffin senior forward Chrisean Marsden dominated the painted area for Tiffin this past week, averaging 18 points and 12.5 boards per game. The Dragons began the week in Painesville, picking up a 64-63 victory. Marsden snagged 15 rebounds while pitching in 10 points. On Saturday, Tiffin fell to Ashland, with Marsden scoring a career high 26 points and collecting 10 rebounds. For the week, Marsden shot 52% from the field and snagged 25 rebounds with 11 being on the offensive glass.
