Official NABC Rankings Release
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) are now ranked inside the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top 25 poll released on Tuesday (Feb. 9).
Saginaw Valley (19-4, 15-2 GLIAC) jumped six spots to No. 15 in the rankings after a 3-0 performance last week ran the Cardinals' win streak to seven straight. SVSU picked up a 72-69 road victory on Monday (Feb. 1) in Hillsdale before notching a big road win at Lake Superior State (92-87) and a tightly-contested triumph over rival Northwood (74-68) in front of 2,500 home fans. The Cardinals maintain a two-game lead in the North over Ferris State, while holding a one-game edge over Findlay in the overall standings.
Ashland (19-4, 13-4 GLIAC) moved up four positions to No. 21 after three wins last week moving their win streak to six in-a-row. The Eagles survived an overtime road scare at Lake Erie (87-79) on Monday (Feb. 1) prior to a 70-64 victory at Walsh on Thursday (Feb. 4) and a 65-63 home win over Malone. AU sits one game back of unranked Findlay (17-5, 14-3 GLIAC) and two games behind Saginaw Valley for the overall lead.
Ferris State (19-4, 13-4 GLIAC) reentered the Top 25 with three wins of their own after wins over Grand Valley State (74-71), on the road in overtime at Michigan Tech (80-78) and at Northern Michigan (70-61). Findlay (15-5, 12-3 GLIAC) leads the South but are the third team outside the Top 25 in the also receiving votes category in this week's poll. Lake Superior State (16-7, 11-6 GLIAC) is also receiving one vote in last week's balloting.
