2018 GLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
#GLIACMBB -- The 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals are complete and four programs will travel to Ferris State University for the weekend semifinal and championship contests. Top-seeded and No. 2 nationally-ranked Ferris State held court and will host No. 4 Ashland in the semifinal round in a rematch of last year's tournament final. No. 2 Lake Superior State will battle No. 6 Michigan Tech who pulled off the lone upset of the night after Kyle Monroe poured in 45 points.

Eleven Ferris State Bulldogs scored at least six points as FSU held homecourt advantage and hosting rights for the GLIAC Tournament weekend rounds. DeShaun Thrower came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting while Markese Mayfield, Zach Hankins and Jaylin McFadden all posted 12 points each. Hankins also pulled down 11 boards to go with six blocks in the win. FSU fired a scorching 64.2 percent on the night.
ASHLAND DEF. NORTHERN MICHIGAN, 83-72 (OT) | BOX SCORE
Trailing by 22 early in the second half, Ashland made an epic comeback to earn the overtime victory. Ashland shot 59.1 percent in the second half while holding Northern Michigan to 25 percent. AU's Marsalis Hamilton paced the Eagles with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Drew Noble posted 20 points and 16 rebounds including 11-for-11 from the stripe. NMU's Naba Echols recorded a game-high 28 points in the loss.
LAKE SUPERIOR STATE DEF. GRAND VALLEY STATE, 73-65 | BOX SCORE
Lake State senior guard Akaemji Williams poured in a game-high 24 points to lead his LSSU Lakers over Grand Valley State in quarterfinal action. LSSU turned the ball over just twice in the contest compared to eight for GVSU which Lake State converted into 11 points. The contest featured six ties and eight lead changes.
MICHIGAN TECH DEF. WAYNE STATE, 88-74 | BOX SCORE
Michigan Tech junior forward Kyle Monroe broke Ali Haidar's single-season school record scoring as he scored 45 points on the road in Detroit to upset Wayne State and give the Huskies a spot in the semifinals. Monroe was clicking on all cylinders going 18-for-24 from the field and 6-for-6 from the line. Wayne State was led by Ronald Booth's 21 points, while Chuck Key added 20 in the defeat.
