All Six Home Teams Victorious on #GLIACMBB Opening Night

#GLIACMBB -- Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's basketball league action is underway! It was a thrilling group of contests on opening night which took place Thursday, November 30th. Game summaries and results are below.

#5 FERRIS STATE DEF. TIFFIN, 99-83 | BOX SCORE

Ferris State improved to a perfect 9-0 on the season after a balanced scoring attack which featured seven players scoring eight or more points, highlighted by Drew Cushingberry's 18 points and 12 assists with reigning GLIAC North Player of the Week Noah King posting a game-high 20 points. Tiffin put all five starters in double figures scoring led by Austin Adams' 18 points and nine rebounds. FSU shot 55.7 percent from the field and used its speed to post a 36-14 advantage in fastbreak points.

WAYNE STATE DEF. GRAND VALLEY STATE, 76-73 | BOX SCORE

All five Wayne State starters reached double-digit scoring and were led by forward Chuck Key's 18 points and six rebounds, while guard Ronald Booth posted 17 points in the win. The Warriors limited the Lakers to 38.5 percents shooting as WSU shot 46.4 percent on the night. Grand Valley State guard Hunter Hale posted a game-high 22 points in the loss.

LAKE SUPERIOR STATE DEF. ASHLAND, 82-73 | BOX SCORE

Lake Superior State's Akaemji Williams posted 21 points and produced 45 points off the bench as the Lakers downed Ashland on opening night in the Sault. LSSU committed just six turnovers in the victory which resulted in a 19-4 points off turnovers margin. Lake State fired 51.8 percent from the field and led by as many as 21 points. Ashland was paced by 21 points and seven rebounds from Wendell Davis.

MICHIGAN TECH DEF. SAGINAW VALLEY, 75-67 | BOX SCORE

Michigan Tech forward Kyle Monroe poured in a game-high 29 points and six rebounds to lift the Huskies to the early season victory. Tech shot 54 percent from the field compared to just 37.3 percent for Saginaw Valley. The Huskies led by as many as 17 points midway through the second half before the Cardinals made a late surge.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN DEF. NORTHWOOD, 82-71 | BOX SCORE

The dynamic duo of Naba Echols and Isaiah Johnson guided Northern Michigan to a solid opening night win over Northwood. Echolds led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while Johnson collected 22 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats who shot 50 percent from the field on the night. NMU limited Northwoot to just 37.5 percent shooting who were paced by Nick Spitzley's 22 points. The Wildcats dominated the points in the paint battle by a 52-18 margin.

DAVENPORT DEF. PURDUE NORTHWEST, 98-58 | BOX SCORE

Davenport shot 57.4 percent in a dominant 40-point victory over Purdue Northwest thanks to a game-high 23 points from Nick Malonga. DU controlled PNW to just 38.9 percent shooting while the Panthers also outrebounded PNW by a 44-31 margin and a 50-28 points in the paint margin.
