GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced player of the week awards for Week Six of the 2018-19 men's basketball season. Michigan Tech guard Dawson Bilski earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State guard Hunter Hale was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.
NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dawson Bilski - Michigan Tech
Dawson Bilski led Michigan Tech to an 81-39 win over Wisconsin-Stout Saturday night. Bilski, a sophomore guard, was 9-of-12 from the field and 6-for-8 from three-point range, generating a career-high 25 points in the victory. Bilski also hauled down six rebounds, dished out one assist and had one steal in the win. Bilski is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per game while adding 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists each time he takes the floor. He has connected on 50.5 percent of his field goals this season and 44.8 percent of his shots from behind the three-point arc.
SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hunter Hale - Grand Valley State
Hunter Hale put on a show in big-time road wins against Great Lakes Valley Conference teams to pad the Lakers' regional resume and help Grand Valley State win the Subway Holiday Classic at Quincy. He scored a career-best 28 points to will the Lakers to a 77-73 win over the host team. He was named the tournament's most-valuable player as the Lakers took home the trophy. He hit five three-pointers on the weekend to move into first place in the conference in made threes this season. For the weekend, which included a 94-65 victory over McKendree, he averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals.
