FSU's Mayfield and DU's Bramhill are named men's basketball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced player of the week awards for Week Six of the 2018-19 men's basketball season. Ferris State forward Markese Mayfield earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Davenport forward Robbie Bramhill was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Markese Mayfield - Ferris State

Senior forward Markese Mayfield led Ferris State to back-to-back home wins as he tallied 20.5 points along with 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 70 percent from the floor. Mayfield totaled a team-high 20 points with six rebounds, four assists and a steal in a 116-83 non-conference victory over Olivet on Monday night. He was 6-of-7 from the floor and 2-of-3 from three-point range, along with a perfect 6-of-6 at the line. He came back Wednesday with 21 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, two steals and two assists in a 121-68 victory over Lambton, Ontario. He was 10-of-16 against the Lions. For the week, he shot 69.6 percent overall and 50 percent from behind the arc while totaling 41 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and three steals. FSU improved its home win streak to 33 games.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Robbie Bramhill - Davenport

Junior forward Robbie Bramhill scored 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting to lead Davenport to a 109-52 non-conference victory over Goshen on Wednesday. He also had six rebounds and one assist. Bramhill was 4-of-9 from behind the arc and played 19 minutes.
