MTU's Monroe, DU's Bramhill Named Men's Basketball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following week seven of the 2019-20 men's basketball season. Michigan Tech senior forward Kyle Monroe earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Davenport senior forward Robbie Bramhill was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kyle Monroe - Michigan Tech

Senior forward Kyle Monroe scored a season high 30 points by connecting on 75.0% of his field goals (12 of 16), helping lead the Huskies to a 117-60 non-conference win over Algoma University (Ontario) Saturday afternoon. Two of his field goals found the target from behind the arc and he cashed in 4 of 4 chances at the charity stripe. In addition to his statistical totals on offense, Monroe hauled down three rebounds and had two blocked shots on the defensive end of the floor. All of Monroe's production happened in 18 minutes of Saturday's game. On the season, Monroe leads the Huskies in scoring and rebounding at 19.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game respectively.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Robbie Bramhill - Davenport

Davenport's senior forward, Robbie Bramhill, has been named the GLIAC South Player of the Week. While the Panthers went 2-0 with wins over Aquinas and Trevecca Nazarene, Bramhill averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 assists per game. The Fordwich, Ontario native shot 64.7 percent (11-for-17) from the field, 60 percent (9-for-15) from behind the arc and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line in the two outings. In the victory over the Trojans on Saturday, Bramhill scored a career-high 27 points while setting the new school record for three-pointers made in a game with eight. The 6-8 big man scored the most points in a single game by a Panther this season while securing new personal season highs in field goals made (8) and rebounds (8).
