GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 13 of the men's basketball season. Michigan Tech senior guard Owen White was named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, while Grand Valley State senior guard Isaac Gassman received GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honors.
NORTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Owen White - Michigan Tech
For the second time this season and fifth time in his career, Michigan Tech senior guard/forward Owen White (Rhinelander, Wisconsin) has been named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday (Feb. 21). White totaled 39 points and 12 rebounds in two games last week to help the Huskies to nine straight victories. He also added three assists, three steals, and two blocks. White also shot 10-for-19 from the floor and 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. He was perfect at the free throw line (6-6) and averaged 31.5 minutes.
SOUTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Isaac Gassman - Grand Valley State
Isaac Gassman has been named the GLIAC South Player of the Week for the penultimate week of the regular season. The senior led a shorthanded Laker team to an impressive road win over Davenport Thursday night with 24 points and seven rebounds, including the go-ahead three-pointer with under 15 seconds remaining in regulation that would prove to be the game-winner. Gassman played 38 minutes in the rivalry game with the Lakers missing two regular starters. He followed that performance up on senior day with a near-double-double, scoring nine points and hauling in eight rebounds in a lopsided win over Northwood. Overall, Gassman was 4-11 from beyond the arc and averaged 16.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for the week to lead the Lakers to a 2-0 weekend as they look to build momentum towards post-season play.
