FSU's Oraegbu earns GLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Ferris State sophomore guard Solomon Oraegbu has been recognized as GLIAC Player of the Week following week 11 of the 2022-23 men's basketball season. 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Solomon Oraegbu, Ferris State

Ferris State's Solomon Oraegbu led the Bulldogs to a pair of impressive GLIAC home wins over the weekend as FSU stretched its winning streak to six consecutive games. The sophomore standout averaged 23.5 points along with 5.0 rebounds in back-to-back wins over Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. Oraegbu shot 54% from the floor on the week and went 19-of-21 (90.5%) at the free throw stripe. He tallied 20 points with five rebounds in Thursday's decisive 78-50 win over Michigan Tech. Oraegbu then came back with a big performance on Saturday, leading the Bulldogs from 14 points down for a wild and dramatic 106-93 overtime win in a battle of first-place leaders in the GLIAC against NMU. He scored 27 points in the win and went 13-of-14 at the line while scoring the game-tying basket with less than two seconds to go in regulation. Additionally, he tallied FSU's final eight points on Saturday in regulation and totaled eight points in overtime to lead the Bulldogs, finishing with 16 of Ferris State's final 26 points in the contest as FSU improved to 17-5 overall this year and held onto a share of first-place in the league.
