Saginaw Valley's Pumford, Grand Valley State's Reed Tabbed GLIAC Golfers of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the first week of tournaments to kickoff the 2018-19 season. Saginaw Valley senior Dustin Pumford claimed top honors in men's action, while Grand Valley State sophomore Olivia Reed earned accolades on the women's side.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Dustin Pumford - Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley senior men's golfer Dustin Pumford started the 2018-19 campaign off solid, posting a perfect 6-0 record over the weekend to claim the individual title at the Northern Michigan University Match Play Invitational. Pumford led the Cardinals to a third place overall finish in the event, which was played at Marquette Golf Club's Greywalls Course. 


WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Olivia Reed - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State sophomore Olivia Reed tied for seventh place at the UIndy Fall Invitational against stiff competition in the Lakers first tournament of the 2018-19 season. The reigning GLIAC Freshman of the Year, Reed carded rounds of 71, 74, and 74 to finish with a 3-over, 219 at the two-day competition. Reed actually tied with GVSU teammate Katie Chipman in seventh to help the Lakers finish in fifth place, with Reed carding the lowest round for a Laker and tallying 13 birdies in the tournament.
