GVSU Sweeps GLIAC Golf Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its golfer weekly awards following the second week of tournaments. Grand Valley State swept the awards with freshman Chares DeLong earning men's golfer of the week, and Katie Chipman receiving women's golfer of the week. 


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Charles DeLong - Grand Valley St.  

Charles DeLong tied for first at the SVSU Invitational on March 21, marking his best finish of the season.  The Laker freshman posted a 36-hole score of 136 (-8), with a final-round of 66 (-6) that included five birdies and an eagle.  DeLong's top performance helped the team earn a first-place finish with a score of 571 (-5).  After earning last year's GLIAC Golfer of the Year tag, this is the third time in his career that DeLong has garnered GLIAC weekly honors.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Katie Chipman- Grand Valley St.  

Katie Chipman earned medalist honors and was named to the All-Tournament team following a first-place finish at the Findlay Spring Invite (March 23) with a final score of 206 (-10).  The Lakers won the invite with a team score of 884 (+20), finishing ahead of #10 Findlay and #17 Missouri-St. Louis.  Chipman led all players with 17 birdies throughout the two-day tournament.  A three-time GLIAC Golfer of the Year, this marks Chipman's seventh GLIAC weekly mention of her career.
