SPRINGFIELD, Ill. –Rockhurst’s Mark Magee has been named the 2011 Midwest Region Player of the Year by the region sports information directors.

Magee, a sophomore forward from Evesham, England, was a first team all-region and all-conference selection. He leads the Hawks with 14 goals and 12 assists for a total of 40 points. Magee also leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference in shots (85), shots per game (4.25), points (40), points per game (2.00), assists (12) and game-winning goals (7).
Magee has also helped lead Rockhurst to the GLVC regular season championship and a berth into the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Joining Magee on the first team are forwards Grant Ellison (Quincy), Ashton Campbell (Tiffin) and Colby Catlett (Ohio Dominican). In the midfield are Keith Lough (Northwood), Kenny Hewitt (Ashland), Paolo Scoppola (Rockhurst) and Almin Sabotic (Missouri-St. Louis). In the back are Kyle Miller (Rockhurst), Tommy Barrick (Northern Kentucky), Spencer Brinkmeyer (Missouri S&T) and Kevin Donnelly (Northern Kentucky). The first team goal keeper is Ryan Bass of Rockhurst.
On the second team at forward is Nick McDonald (Rockhurst),
Aloisio Barros (Lewis), Tyler Wason (Urbana) and Cristhian Ramirez
(Lewis). In the midfield is Michael Bartlett (Northern Kentucky),
Lucas De Rossi (Rockhurst), Danny Eborall (Lake
Erie), Michael O’Neill (Tiffin) and
George Thomson (Lewis). The second team defense is Anthony Meyer
(Northern Kentucky), Jon Schreiber (Rockhurst), Jamie
Dollar (Ashland) and Ryan Barnett (Indianapolis). The goal
keeper is Stephen Conner of Drury.
All 13 first-team All-Region selections will now be placed on the
national ballot for All-America Consideration. The All-America
teams are scheduled to be released on Wednesday, November 30. The
