GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fourth week of the 2018 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley sophomore midfielder Alex Gloshen earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Parkside junior goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second straight week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alex Gloshen - Saginaw Valley
Saginaw Valley sophomore midfielder Alex Gloshen led the Cardinals to a 2-0 mark this past weekend, defeating Purdue Northwest and Davenport on the road in GLIAC action. Gloshen had a goal and assist in the team's 2-1 win over the Pride on Friday before dishing-out a helper in Sunday's 4-1 win at Davenport.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Juan Gonzalez - Parkside
Parkside junior goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez remained strong in net again this weekend, defeating Northwood 2-1 in overtime and pitching a scoreless shutout against No. 22 Northern Michigan in a draw. Gonzalez made seven saves in the overtime victory over NU before making four stops in the draw versus NMU.
