Saginaw Valley's Liadi, Parkside's Gonzalez Capture GLIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the 2018 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley junior forward Azaad Liadi earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Parkside junior goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Azaad Liadi - Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley junior forward Azaad Liadi led the Cardinals to a 3-0 record this past week in GLIAC action to remain atop the GLIAC standings. Liadi scored two goals and added an assist, accumulating five points. In Wednesday's match versus Ashland, he had both goals with the second proving to be the game-winner. For the week, Liadi had 14 shots with six of those on-goal.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Juan Gonzalez - Parkside 

Parkside junior goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez recorded a 1-0 road shutout against No. 22 Northern Michigan before defeating Northwood 2-1 on the road on Sunday. Gonzalez recorded six stops in the first game vs. NMU before handling four Northwood shots in the second contest. Gonzlez leads the GLIAC with 66 saves.
