Northern Michigan's Popp, Purdue Northwest's Ugarte Garner GLIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh week of the 2018 men's soccer season. Northern Michigan senior forward Sam Popp earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Purdue Northwest junior defender Grant Ugarte claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sam Popp - Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan senior forward Sam Popp finished the weekend with three goals and six points in two matches. On Friday, Popp broke the program record for goals and points in a season and continued to push his own record on Saturday. He now has eight goals and 18 assists during his senior campaign. He is tied for the GLIAC lead for goals and also has the second-most points in the league. 


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grant Ugarte - Purdue Northwest

Purdue Northwest junior defender Grant Ugarte led the defensive efforts for the Pride who defeated the top team in the GLIAC, Parkside, 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Dowling Park. Ugarte helped the Pride hold Parkside to just one goal in the victory.
