Saginaw Valley's Hamilton, Ashland's Karousos Selected GLIAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2018 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley sophomore forward Michael Hamilton earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Ashland sophomore goalkeeper Dimitrios Karousos claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael Hamilton - Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley sophomore forward Michael Hamilton scored two goals in the Cardinals' 2-1 double overtime victory on Sunday over Parkside to secure the 2018 GLIAC regular season championship for SVSU. Hamilton connected on a goal at the 71' mark and then got the game-winner with three minutes left when he found the back of the net off a rebound. The Cardinals have now won four regular season league titles and two of the last three. 


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dimitrios Karousos - Ashland

Ashland sophomore goalkeeper Dimitrios Karousos recorded seven saves and posted a clean sheet in Ashland 2-0 win over then first-place Parkside on Friday. Karousos now has two shutouts on the season and ranks third in the GLIAC with a 1.06 goals against average.
