SVSU's Rutz and DU's Doupe Claim GLIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2019 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley senior midfielder Connor Rutz earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Davenport freshman goalkeeper Joshua Doup claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Connor Rutz - Saginaw Valley St. 

Senior midfielder Connor Rutz had a standout weekend in leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 record with wins over Upper Iowa and Purdue Northwest. Rutz had a hat trick and an assist on Friday in the team's 8-2 win over the Peacocks and added a goal in SVSU's 3-2 win over the Pride on Sunday. Rutz currently leads the GLIAC in goals (6), assists (4) and points (16) for the 2019 campaign.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Joshua Doupe - Davenport

Doupe has had a fantastic start to his GLIAC career with three straight shutouts in goal. He made six saves in Sunday's 1-0 win over Northern Michigan and is now 3-1 overall with a 0.50 goals-against average and 22 saves.
