GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the spring 2021 Men's Soccer season. Ashland junior Haruki Kimura earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley St. sophomore Benjamin Adamson claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Haruki Kimura, Ashland

Kimura scored both goals in the Eagles' comeback 2-1 overtime win over Upper Iowa on Saturday (April 10). The Fukuoka, Japan native hit a left-footed sliding volley off a cross by Justin Libertowski in the 57th minute to equalize against the Peacocks, who opened the scoring in the first half. In the seventh minute of overtime, Kimura drew a foul trying to receive breakthough pass from Rafael Pereira and stood over the ensuing free kick. He struck it from 28 yards into the top left corner to give the Eagles the win.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Benjamin Adamson, Saginaw Valley St.

For his efforts, Benjamin Adamson has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.
