GLIAC Announces Men's Soccer Postseason Awards for the 2021 Season

GLIAC – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has released the men's soccer postseason awards for fall 2021, as voted on by the league's coaches. 

Parkside redshirt junior forward Rade Novakovich (Muskego, Wis.) was honored as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year. Novakovich fronts the GLIAC's most potent offense, leading the conference and NCAA Division II with 22 goals. He posted six multi-goal games and added nine assists, which ranks second on the team. Novakovich also tops the nation in points (53) and point per game (2.79).

Parkside junior defender Henry Bruer (Stuttgart, Germany) is the 2021 GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. A fixture on the Rangers' back line, Bruer has started all 19 games and leads all field players in minutes played (1,740). He had an instrumental role in six Parkside shutouts.

Parkside junior goalkeper Alexandre Durand (Paris, France) has earned GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year recognition. Durand, a two-time GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year honoree this season, logged over 92 percent of available minutes in goal for the Rangers. He possesses a 1.16 goals against average, .734 save percentage and has six shutouts to his credit.

GLIAC Freshman of the Year was awarded to Purdue Northwest midfielder Lucas Bravo Ollé (Barcelona, Spain). He played in 17 games and started five in his first collegiate season, registered two goals, both game winners, and four assists. 

Jason Zitzke of Parkside was selected as GLIAC Coach of the Year. Zitzke's Rangers captured a second GLIAC championship and earned the No. 1 seed to the conference tournament in 2021. His team boasted one of the nation's most prolific offenses this season, posting 52 goals and 50 assists in 19 matches. Parkside, which has 14 wins to date, will vie for a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament on Sunday.
